Don Cheadle revealed that his interest in Darfur didn’t come via his friendship with George Clooney, but as a result from a casual meeting with a congressman from Orange County after a screening of his film Hotel Rwanda.”Congressman Ed Royce asked me if I had heard of Darfur, and what was going on in the Sudan and I said cursorily. a little bit about it. He said, well I am going there with a Congressional Delegation, would you like to attend and I went with him and that started a whole movement that I became aware of ... the genocide in Darfur, and that brought me to the United Nations.”
