George Clooney: The Renaissance Gentleman
September 1, 2010
An Italian artist, Franca Silva, has been painting George Clooney’s face in reproduction of famous painting from the Renaissance to the more recent American gothic. Her favorite portrait, the 1433 self portrait of Flemish painter Jan van Eyck, was sent to George, but the artist didn’t know if the famous actor really got it. The other day I met George for an interview about his new thriller “The American” and I asked, showing him an article of Silva in the Italian weekly OGGI. “Yes! I got it.” said George. “It arrived very well packaged, but without any notes. I am so happy that the mystery has been solved. I love the painting! It’s hanging in my house in Italy” and he wrote a nice thank you note to Franca that was published today in OGGI magazine.
