What a night! Line around the block in Downtown Los Angeles at the Million Dollar Theater for a very special screening of the classic western “The Wild Bunch”: the 40th year anniversary screening.  Armed Cowboys were at the door and guarding backstage where we found the legendary Ernest Borgnine. His presence surprised most people. “Is he still alive?” you could hear the happy whispers. Ernie, 93 in January, was presented with a lifetime achievement award from the Jules Verne's Org of France (check out their great work on the web) by actor Keith Corradine.  And we all (2200 in the audience)  were treated to a fantastic  digitally remastered print of Sam Peckinpah masterpiece. That was 1969 and I am sure that Sergio Leone  helped the American director to push the Western envelope to its bloody core.

Sam’s daughter’ was presented with an award from Ali MacGraw and the kids of Robert Ryan were also in the audience. Billy Bob Thornton came to say hi to Ernie and I hope that the two work together soon. (Billy Bob plays the House of Blues in LA on Dec 10)
